Twenty-one US military personnel died in the little known Civil War in El Salvador in the 1980’s. Because of the secrecy involved, not one of them received a decoration until the 1990’s. At that time, five very wealthy and powerful business leaders from El Salvador, who fled their country to Miami to avoid the war, wanted to return and take control.

When Jack Nordone, a decorated Vietnam veteran, returned from the war, he vowed to never kill another human. It was a vow he couldn’t keep. Jack became involved because his son went to Nicaragua to teach. His son sounded troubled and Jack’s wife flew there to find the cause. Jack’s wife and son were killed when their flight from Managua to Miami went down in the Gulf. Jack is devastated, believing it an accident, until a visit from a teacher friend of his son. Jack realizes that the death of his family was not accidental, and begins a quest to find those responsible and punish them. He is helped by friends and a lovely CIA analyst and agent. The story moves from Atlanta to Washington DC, Rome, and Central America.
