“You Don’t Know Jack… or Jerry From Small Town Roots to Financial Software Giant
by Robert O. Babcock.
In just over thirty years, Jack Henry and Jerry Hall have grown their banking software company from the two of them to a thriving operation with over 3,700 employees in close to 50 locations around the United States.
They started writing software for a handful of community banks and now serve thousands of diverse organizations which rely on their financial solutions. Talk about the American Dream.  A couple of small-town guys had an idea, nurtured it, and worked hard to turn it into a reality bigger than anything either of them expected.  Jack and Jerry’s story is one of friendship, business, partnership, and hard work.  It is about what can happen when the desire to succeed overpowers the fear of failure. The JHA story is an inspiration for anyone with a dream and the desire to achieve it.  280 pages, hard cover.

“What Now, Lieutenant?” by Robert O. Babcock.  “Every now and then a work comes along that is so simple and refreshing in its originality that it immediately captures the spirit of American fighting men throughout the ages.  Such is this work by Bob Babcock. What makes this work unique is that it is based upon his wartime writing as it occurred, without the softening of time and the refining of modern memory applied to past experience.  In it you will find the thinking of a young officer as he struggles to take in all that he is responsible for while experiencing everything himself for the first time.  It is an honest, unvarnished look at Soldiering in 1966-1967 and is as fine an example of the early American experience in Vietnam that one is likely to come across...”   The personal account of
Bob Babcock’s experiences as a platoon leader and executive officer with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam in 1966 and 1967.  420 pages, soft cover.  ISBN 0-9776018-0-3.

“My Son is Alive…” by Roberta Quimby.  Roberta received the phone call on June 8, 2006 that her son had been seriously wounded
by an improved explosive device (IED) while serving with the 4th Infantry Division in Iraq.  Part of the way Roberta got through that first challenging year was through almost daily email updates to family and close friends.  In this book, Roberta has included those updates, written with all the ups and downs as she lived them, plus her reflections on those daily experiences.  You’ll see and feel the love this mother has for her Soldier son – she is a true heroine.  Read and take an intimate look into what many military families are living through –
the human reality of the war in Iraq.  (10% of profits from this book will be donated to organizations supporting wounded warriors) 164 pages, soft cover.  ISBN 0-9776018-4-6.  $22.00

“Ladies of the Ironhorse” by Rhonda Eggleston.  The voices of those who wait at home.  Comprised of stories from mothers,
wives, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, and in-laws, this book captures the spirit of the military women who wait while their loved

today as the Global War on Terror continues is the encouragement it provides to families who are supporting Soldiers in harm’s way.

Five WWII 4ID Yearbooks on one CD...

In 1946, the 4th Infantry Division published five yearbooks covering their recently completed experiences in WWII.  The five yearbooks covered the 8th, 12th, and 22nd Infantry Regiments, Division Artillery, and 4ID HQ/Special Troops.  Each book, which range in length from 164 to 223 pages, include the 4ID history in WWI and WWII, lots of action pictures taken during the course of WWII, and the individual books cover the actions of the specific unit covered, along with a history of the unit, lots of WWII action pictures of the unit, and individual Soldier pictures, much like a high school or college yearbook.

The 1946 version of the books sold out very quickly and were out of print for almost 60 years until I reprinted about two hundred copies (total) in 2003, which also have sold out.  The reprints sold for $35 per book, a complete set of the five books would have cost $175.

I recently found the CD, with all five books included on it, that was used by the printer when the book was reprinted.  It is in Adobe PDF format and can be easily viewed or printed using the free version of Adobe Reader.

As a fund raiser for the National 4th Infantry Division Association, we are making the CD of all five WWII yearbooks available for a donation of whatever you can afford.  $25 is the recommended donation, more if you can afford it (or less if that's what you can afford).
